About Us

Blackthorn Dog Training is situated on the beautiful Welsh - Shropshire border just 5 miles south of Oswestry on the main A495 road to Llansanffraid. Sue founded Blackthorn Dog Training to give local people somewhere to train their dogs in the disciplines of Agility and Obedience.

Types of training offered include:

• Agility Classes
• Obedience Classes
• Puppy Classes (Puppy School)
• Private Tution for Agility and Obedience
• Behaviour Consultations
• Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme (KCGCDS) Classes
• Rally Obedience Classes as a follow on to KCGCDS

Sue has been instructing in obedience and agility for over 16 years now and regularly competes in Agility, with her current dogs competing at grades 3,5 and 6. She became a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (A.P.D.T.) in 1998 and all her classes follow their Code of Practice. In line with this Code, Sue continues her personal and professional development by attending courses, workshops and seminars in order to keep up to date with new theory and practice. Sue's latest three assignments for 2009/2010 are:

a) A 14 month NVQ with the International Dog Behaviour and Training School in Staffordshire, run by Sheila Harper.

b) Lessons on how sheep dogs are trained (using her own dogs).

c) A Rally Obedience Judges seminar.
